BROKEN PIPE... I can’t even bring myself to write these words…
We Mourn the Passing of Long Time Brother and Greatest President the Club has ever had,
Our Dear,
Mr. Vernon Vig
Please join me in raising bowls in memory and honor of our past President, UPCA past President, dearest friend and beloved brother, long, long time member, Vernon Vig, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 13th, 2025, as reported by our dear brother, his nephew, Ted Vig.
As per Ted,
“My uncle Vernon Vig passed away this morning. Many of you knew him from the New York pipe club or a president of the UPCA. He was knowledgeable and passionate about pipes. I know several in here have told me he was a mentor. I know he was to me. He will be sorely missed. I'll write more later. I just got the news and knew others would want to know. Raise a pipe for Vernon and keep his family in your thoughts.”
I'm devastated, he was the ultimate mentor to me and there will never be another like Mr. Vig. I am so sad right now. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Vig and family 🙏
We will honor Mr. Vig’s memory at our NYPC IPSD gathering at Barclay Rex on Saturday, Feb. 22nd, 2025. The day will be in his honor and remembrance.
This is such sad news. Those of us who had the pleasure of sharing bowls together with Mr Vig will remember the kind soul that he was. He will surely be missed. There will never be another like him.
