2017 Northeast Pipe Smoking Contest and Holiday Party (Kaywoodie Event)

December 2, 2017 UPDATE From Bill!!!

We are now only a week away from this annual event. We are in the final stages of preparing. The food has been ordered, the pipes will be finished tomorrow *yes Sunday:)" And the balance of everything else will be picked up in the coming week.

We are currently at 47 people signed up. I know of at least one person who will not be in the contest, so as of right now there is a couple of openings for the contest. If you have been on the fence about coming, the quickest way to get payment in and secure a spot in the contest is to send the $65 fee by PayPal, via "friends and family" so no fees are taken out to smokepipes@aol.com

Our menu for dinner will be similar as previous years. Chips/Pretzels for the afternoon. Dinner will be Meatballs, Sausage and Peppers, Eggplant Parm, Chicken Marsala, Penne w/broccolirab/garlic/oil, pulled pork, potato salad, tossed salad, rolls. Cake and cookies for desert after the contest. The will also be beer/wine/soda provided, but if you like something a little stronger, feel free to bring it to share.

Some GPS's recognize that street address as Fishkill with the same zip, so if one doesn't work try the other. Festivities start at 1pm. If you're early, there are plenty of places along RT9 (diner, cracker barrel, Panera, Wendy's,etc) right when you get off I-84 to grab a quick lunch as dinner won't be until about 5-5:30.

Exhibitors with tables, the doors will be open around 11:30 for you to setup your tables. Other than that I can't think of anything else. If anyone has a question, please feel free to email me. The weather forecast as of now is clear and low 40's during the day.

Our dear friend Bill Feuerbach has announced that once again he will host the 2017 “Kaywoodie Event”, to be held at the same location as last year, in Fishkilll, NY, on Saturday December 9th. Be sure to submit your check for $65.00, along with the application found below, which, if you are among the lucky, first 48, will also enroll you into the 2017 Northeast Pipe Smoking (Slow Smoke) Contest, a UPCA sanctioned event, which is a load of fun, as soon as possible, as it is sure to sell out, and it always does! It is once again time for the pipe event of the year, the annual HVPC Holiday party and Northeast Pipe Smoking Contest. As has been our tradition, It will be on the second Saturday in December, December 9th, starting around 1pm at the same venue as the last three years. For anyone who has not attended before, it is a holiday party with food and drink, a pipe show, a smoking contest and social event with nothing but pipe smokers all over the North East.

As you may remember, thanks to the FDA we had to bump the cost by $10 to $65 last year to cover purchasing the tobacco contest prizes. We still are having to purchase prizes. The good news is the cost remains the same at $65.

Attached you will find the event flyer. Please return as soon as possible. For those of you wanting a table for selling pipes and accessories, please include an extra $20 for the table and mark that on your entry form. These tables are limited so if you wanted one, respond early, like this week. Anybody who can share tables that will help. If you will be sharing, let me know with whom so I can include a list of exhibitors as we get closer to the event date.

Registration is $65. ($10 of which goes to the SDPSA for renting the facility for the day) We are going to have to limit the the number of contest participants to the first 48 registration forms returned. Fee includes your contest pipe, contest tobacco, contest prizes and buffet dinner. Since pipes will be made according to the number of people who have registered, no refunds can be considered.

**Please Note***In the event that we receive more than 48 registration forms, we will not turn anyone away. But those received after the first 48 will not be able to participate in the smoking contest, unless one of the first 48 chooses not to participate and relinquishes their spot and the pipe.
