UPDATE!!! March 2023 - Our Brother Hank Needs Our Help

March 2023 UPDATE!!!

Just a quick update, our dear brother Hank is recovering after his operation and is doing well. Thanks to all who offered their support in whatever way they were able; Hank and his daughters greatly appreciate it! Please continue to keep Hank in your thoughts and prayers as he continues on his road to recovery!

Our brother Hank is in need of an operation, has had a disturbing diagnosis and is in need of any support we can offer. His daughters created a Go Fund Me page and I have provided the link below. If you are able to help in any way, it would be most appreciated. Please keep our brother Hank in your thoughts and prayers.

BROKEN PIPE!!! We Mourn the Passing of Our Dear Brother, Dan Siverstone

BROKEN PIPE!!!

You better sit down.

It is with the deepest sadness and sorrow that I report this most devastating news which I just learned. Our dear brother and long-time Club member, Dan Silverstone, has passed. I am in complete shock right now and can’t begin to tell you how heartbroken I am. I can’t even process this. Oh, my dear God!

About two weeks ago, on July 5th, Dan contacted me to tell me that after all he has been through with his back operation, he was experiencing pain in his stomach and had to go back to the hospital where they found a tumor in his stomach. He was to have a biopsy the following day. I emailed him a few days ago to follow up with him and had not heard anything until this devastating email arrived moments ago. It is from Dan’s wife, Ginger: 😭😭

Hi Lou,
Dan passed yesterday at 3:05 p.m. He had cancer in his lung and pancreas and was not able to make it. Please let his closest friends know what has happened.

This year, we change venues. After I sent the last email to you asking your opinion about two possible options for us to gather, the responses I received pointed in favor of trying a new spot, a break from the norm, and JR Cigar on Rt. 10 in Whippany, NJ is the place! I want to thank all who have responded to help in deciding upon the location for us to celebrate this year, I really appreciate it!

2013 National Pipe Smoking Championship Results

A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes out to our own beloved member HANK SAATCHI for puffing away for 51 minutes 09 seconds and placing 28 out of 71 contestants! Great job Hank, congratulations once again!!!

On May 5 at the Chicagoland International Pipe & Tobacciana show, the 2013 National Pipe Smoking Championship was held. Highlights were Santiago Perez, from Mexico, was the overall winner at 1 hour 35 minutes and 4 seconds. Chris Karas, Arrowhead Pipe Club, came in first place among Americans at 1 hour 14 minutes and 40 seconds. It is the first time an American has twice placed first. Claudia Marsh, The Order Of Collegiate Pipe Smokers, was the winner in the women's division at 48 minutes and 16 seconds.

Special Announcement - ATTENTION, ATTENTION!!! It's time to do it again! The New York Pipe Club Summer BBQ/Picnic!!! Once again our own beloved member Hank Saatchi has graciously offered to host our annual pipe club BBQ get-together at his home in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Last years BBQ was a smash success even in spite of the drizzle - Hank has a cozy screened in area where we were able to continue the smokes! The party is scheduled for Saturday, July 13th starting at 1pm and the club will provide the comestibles and soft libations (that's food and soft drinks). Alcohol will be BYOB.
